Cellarette

No proper dinner host would have been without a cellarette in the dining room in the 18th and 19th centuries. The purpose of a cellarette is to house the wine that will be served at dinner, thus sparing one’s guests from the vulgar display of bottles. Today, many of us have no such inhibitions.
